To keep the quality high in every Alchemy Dose blend, we follow a strict set of standards when sourcing our functional mushrooms.

Mycelium on Grains

Many lab-grown mushroom supplements are made using mycelium grown on grains. This method tends to leave a lot of starch and carbohydrate behind, with lower levels of the active compounds like beta-glucans and triterpenes that the mushroom is valued for.

Powders vs Extracts

You will often find that most brands offer only dried mushroom powder. Powder is inexpensive to make, but it holds a smaller share of the mushroom's compounds in a concentrated, easy-to-mix form.

A dual extract concentrates more of those compounds than a plain powder, which is part of why extracts cost more.

100% Fruiting Body

We use only the fruiting body, the true mushroom, in our extracts. It is the part that carries the most beta-glucans and triterpenes, the compounds most studied in functional mushroom research.

Mycelium on Grain

Mycelium, the root-like part, is often grown on grain and sometimes sold as mushroom extract. It carries fewer of the active compounds and is cheaper to produce.
