Chaga Mushroom Extract

ABOUT THIS EXTRACT

Chaga Mushroom Extract (Inonotus obliquus), 8:1 Dual-Extracted Fruiting Body

8:1 dual-extracted (hot water and ethanol) from Inonotus obliquus fruiting body by Alchemy Dose. Available in India. Chaga is the slow-growing fungus that forms a hard black conk on birch trees in cold climates, taken in Russian and Siberian tradition for centuries as a daily tea, where the Khanty people called it the Gift from God. Studied across hundreds of published research papers. Sourced from USDA and EU organic-certified suppliers. Naturally contains polysaccharides (17.38 percent, including beta-D-glucans at ≥15 percent), betulin (0.91 percent), and melanin.

  • 8:1 Dual Extraction, Hot Water and Ethanol
  • Made from the Chaga Fruiting Body, No Mycelium or Fillers
  • Sourced from USDA and EU Organic-Certified Suppliers
  • Lab-Tested Per Batch for Heavy Metals
  • Taken in Russian and Siberian Tradition for Centuries
VERIFIED COMPOUND PROFILE
17.38% Polysaccharides
≥15% Beta-D-Glucans
0.91% Betulin
Suggested Use Start 500 mg to 1 g (¼ to ½ tsp), build to 2 to 3 g (up to 1 tsp)
How to Take Stir into hot water, coffee, tea, or broth. Caffeine-free.

An 8:1 dual extraction of Inonotus obliquus fruiting body. The hot-water step pulls the water-soluble fraction (polysaccharides, including beta-D-glucans, and melanin); the ethanol step pulls the fat-soluble betulin and triterpenoids that Chaga takes up from birch bark. Single-method extraction would miss one or the other. Because Chaga draws compounds from the tree it grows on, every batch is lab-tested for heavy metals before it ships. Also available from Alchemy Dose in the MycoSynergy Mushroom Coffee with Chaga and as Reishi Extract for an evening ritual.

NOT FOR MEDICINAL USE. FSSAI License No. 13326999000107.

What Is Chaga Mushroom Extract?

Slow-Grown on Birch. 8:1 Dual-Extracted. Lab-Tested Per Batch.

Chaga (Inonotus obliquus) is not a typical mushroom. It is the hard, black, charcoal-like conk that grows on birch trees in the cold forests of the Northern Hemisphere, forming slowly over 10 to 15 years. Chaga mushroom extract is that fungus concentrated into a fine Chaga powder you can stir into a daily drink. Ours is 8:1 dual-extracted from the fruiting body, never mycelium grown on grain.

As it grows, Chaga draws compounds out of the birch bark, which is why it is naturally rich in polysaccharides, beta-D-glucans, betulin, and the pigment melanin that gives the conk its black surface. Taken in Russian and Siberian tradition for centuries as a daily tea, Chaga is caffeine-free and dissolves in seconds into a warm Chaga tea, coffee, or plant-based milk. Sourced from USDA and EU organic-certified suppliers and lab-tested for heavy metals, it is available across India.

What it is, what it carries, and where it comes from:

Grows on birch. A hard black conk that forms on the tree over 10 to 15 years.

≥15% beta-D-glucans. A key polysaccharide subgroup in functional mushrooms.

Betulin from birch. A triterpenoid taken up from the bark it grows on.

Naturally rich in melanin. The pigment that gives the conk its black surface.

8:1 dual-extracted. Hot water and ethanol, for both water and fat-soluble compounds.

Gift from God. The Khanty name, from centuries of Russian and Siberian use.

Our Chaga mushroom extract is 8:1 dual-extracted from the fruiting body, never mycelium grown on grain, and sourced from USDA and EU organic-certified suppliers. Because Chaga draws compounds from the tree it grows on, every batch is lab-tested for heavy metals.

Sourced from USDA and EU organic-certified suppliers, dual-extracted from the birch conk, and lab-tested per batch. The compound profile, verified by COA.

Powder vs Extract, and Why Extracts Cost More

A clear look at whole dried mushroom, hot-water extract, and dual extract, so you can see what each format is and why dual extracts are the most concentrated.

Whole • Everyday
Whole Dried Mushroom or Powder

The mushroom dried and ground. Carries the whole-food matrix and fiber, and traditionally it is simmered in hot water to draw the compounds out into a tea.

Best for: a simple, traditional daily preparation.

Concentration
Price
Concentrated
Hot-Water Extract

Simmered and concentrated to draw out the water-soluble compounds, chiefly the polysaccharides and beta-D-glucans. More concentrated than powder, and it dissolves instantly in hot liquids.

Best for: a ready-to-use daily tea without the long simmer.

Dual • Full Profile
Dual Extract

Uses hot water and ethanol, so it captures both the water-soluble beta-D-glucans and the fat-soluble betulin and triterpenes that Chaga takes up from birch bark. The most concentrated of the three.

Best for: the fullest compound profile in one daily scoop. This is our Chaga.

Frother

Mix It Right for a Smooth Chaga Tea

To get the best texture and taste from your Chaga extract, whether you are brewing a warm Chaga tea or stirring it into your coffee, a little technique goes a long way.

This fine extract powder can clump if it goes straight into cold liquid. Here is how to get a smooth, even cup every time.

Dissolve in Hot Water First

Add your Chaga extract to a small amount of hot water and stir thoroughly, or use a frother. Once it has fully dissolved, top up with the rest of your water, coffee, milk, or a plant-based alternative.

Tip

Hot water dissolves Chaga extract the most easily and gives the smoothest finish. Cold drinks work too, just stir or froth a little longer.

Ways to Enjoy Your Chaga

Easy daily ideas for Chaga extract, from a morning blend to an evening broth.

Smoothies

Blend a scoop into your morning smoothie with banana, dates, or cocoa.

Meals

Stir into soups, oatmeal, broths, or warm khichdi.

Drinks

Mix into a warm Chaga tea, coffee, buttermilk, juice, or a glass of water.

Pet Friendly

Some pet owners share Chaga with their dogs and cats. Please read the vet-guided note below first.

Chaga Mushroom Extract FAQ

Everything worth asking before and after you start our 8:1 dual-extracted Chaga (Inonotus obliquus), gathered from real customer questions across India.

What is Chaga Mushroom Extract?

Chaga (Inonotus obliquus) is a fungus that grows as a hard, black, charcoal-like mass on birch trees in cold northern forests. In Siberian Khanty tradition it was called the Gift from God and taken as a daily tea for centuries.

Our extract is made from the Chaga fruiting body, never mycelium grown on grain, using an 8:1 dual extraction with both hot water and ethanol. The disclosed compound profile includes polysaccharides (17.38%), beta-D-glucans (standardized to a minimum of 15%), and betulin (0.91%), along with the melanin that gives Chaga its black colour. It is caffeine-free.

Is Chaga the same as Chagas disease?

No. They are completely unrelated, and the similar spelling is a coincidence.

Chaga (said CHAH-gah) is a mushroom, Inonotus obliquus, that grows on birch trees and has been brewed as a tea for centuries.

Chagas disease is a tropical parasitic infection caused by a parasite called Trypanosoma cruzi, spread by certain insects in parts of Latin America. It has nothing to do with the mushroom, with our product, or with drinking Chaga tea.

What is the difference between Chaga extract and raw Chaga chunks or powder?

Raw chunks or plain powder are the whole dried mushroom. Traditionally you simmer them in water for hours to slowly draw the compounds out into a tea. They carry the whole-food matrix and cost less.

An extract takes that step much further. Ours is concentrated 8:1 and dual-extracted, so the compounds are already pulled out and dried into a powder that dissolves in seconds. It is more concentrated than raw Chaga, which is part of why an extract costs more.

Is your Chaga fruiting body or mycelium?

Whole fruiting body. Never mycelium grown on grain or rice. This matters more with Chaga than people realise: an independent 2025 analysis of Chaga supplements on the market found that many of them were actually ground mycelium that lacked the markers you would expect from real Chaga.

Our extract is processed from the real black Chaga conk, not a grain-grown substitute.

What does "8:1 dual extraction" mean for Chaga?

8:1 means eight kilograms of dried Chaga are processed down to one kilogram of finished extract, concentrating the compounds eight-fold.

Dual means we use two solvents. Hot water pulls out the water-soluble compounds, mainly the polysaccharides and beta-D-glucans. Ethanol pulls out the fat-soluble compounds, including the betulin and other triterpenoids Chaga takes up from birch bark. A water-only extract would miss the fat-soluble half, which is exactly why dual extraction is the right method for Chaga.

What is betulin, and how much is in your extract?

Betulin is a triterpenoid that Chaga takes up from the birch bark it grows on. It is one of the compounds researchers look at when they study what is actually inside Chaga.

Our extract has a disclosed betulin content of 0.91%, listed on the label alongside the polysaccharides and melanin. We share the number as part of the composition. We make no health claims about it.

Why is Chaga black?

Chaga's black, charcoal-like crust is rich in melanin, the same family of dark pigment found throughout nature. It is the most recognisable feature of the mushroom and one of the things that sets Inonotus obliquus apart visually.

Chaga melanin has been studied in laboratory research for its antioxidant properties (Burmasova and colleagues, 2019). That is a description of the compound, not a health claim about our product.

What does the research on Chaga actually say?

Chaga (Inonotus obliquus) appears in more than 400 published papers indexed in PubMed, most of them cataloguing its compound chemistry, things like polysaccharides, beta-D-glucans, betulin, and melanin.

A lot of this is early-stage or laboratory work. We make no health claims for our extract. We tell you what is in it and let you decide.

How much Chaga should I take daily?

A common starting point is 500 mg to 1 g daily (about one-quarter to one-half teaspoon), building up to 2 to 3 g if it suits you. Many people stay at the lower amount for the first week or two and adjust from there. Consistency over weeks tends to matter more than the exact daily amount. Always consult a qualified practitioner if you have a health condition or take prescription medication.

When should I take Chaga, and can I take it at night?

Chaga is caffeine-free, so there is no single right time. Most people have it in the morning as a warm tea or stirred into coffee, but afternoon or evening is perfectly fine too. Pick a time that fits your routine, since taking it consistently is what matters most.

How do I make Chaga tea or mix the extract?

Add your Chaga extract to a small amount of hot water first and stir well, or use a frother, until it fully dissolves. Then top up with the rest of your water for a warm Chaga tea, or add it to coffee, milk, or a plant-based alternative. Hot water dissolves it most smoothly. With cold drinks, just stir or froth a little longer.

Is Chaga safe? Are there any side effects, and who should avoid it?

Chaga has been taken as a daily tea for centuries and most people tolerate it well at the suggested range. A few honest cautions are worth knowing, though.

Chaga is naturally high in oxalates, so if you have a history of kidney stones or any kidney condition, check with your doctor before using it. Chaga may also affect blood sugar and blood clotting, so speak to your practitioner if you are diabetic, take blood-thinning medication, or have surgery coming up. Pregnant or nursing women, and anyone on prescription medication, should consult a qualified practitioner first.

Stop and speak to a practitioner if anything unusual happens. NOT FOR MEDICINAL USE.

Does Chaga absorb heavy metals from the birch, and do you test for them?

Yes, this is a fair question. Chaga grows by drawing compounds out of the birch tree it lives on, which is part of what makes it interesting, but it also means a Chaga extract is only as clean as its testing.

That is why every batch of our Chaga is lab-tested for heavy metals before it is sold.

Is Chaga vegan and gluten-free?

Yes to both. The extract is naturally vegan (mushrooms are fungi, not animal or plant), gluten-free, and contains no fillers, additives, sugars, sweeteners, preservatives, or anti-caking agents. Just dual-extracted Chaga powder.

Can I take Chaga with coffee, tea, or other functional mushrooms?

Yes. Chaga pairs naturally with coffee, tea, and other functional mushrooms like Lion's Mane, Reishi, Cordyceps, and Turkey Tail, and there are no known interactions between functional mushroom species. If you are combining it with prescription medication, check with your practitioner first. You might also like our MycoSynergy Mushroom Coffee with Chaga or our Reishi Extract.

Where does your Chaga come from?

Our Chaga extract is sourced from suppliers who hold USDA Organic and EU Organic certification. We keep the specific sources confidential, the way most specialist brands protect their supply chain, but the certification standard is something we will always state plainly.

Chaga is a wild fungus that grows on birch in cold, northern forests, so unlike our Cordyceps it is not farmed in indoor trays. After harvesting, it is carefully processed and extracted to preserve its naturally occurring compounds.

Why doesn't your Chaga make health claims like some other brands?

You will notice we do not say Chaga boosts this or fixes that. Chaga is a food, not a medicine, and Indian food rules, along with our own standards, mean we describe what is in the jar and how it has traditionally been used rather than promising what it will do inside your body.

We would rather under-claim and keep your trust.

Can pregnant women, children, or pets have Chaga?

Pregnant or nursing women should consult a qualified practitioner before use.

For children, always consult a paediatrician for specific guidance before giving any functional mushroom.

For pets, always consult your veterinarian first. If your vet approves, introduce gradually and watch your pet's response across the first 7 days. Functional mushrooms are not a substitute for veterinary care, and any dosing decision for your pet should come from your vet.

Is this product FSSAI licensed and approved for sale in India?

Yes. Our Chaga Mushroom Extract is marketed and sold by Nutradose Private Limited, New Delhi, under FSSAI Licence No. 13326999000107, and it complies with the FSSAI 2016 Nutraceutical Regulations and the FSSAI 2018 Advertising and Claims rules.

Transformative

I’ve been incorporating mushrooms mostly to reduce fatigue as I have very active days. I’ve tried every Indian brand that either does tinctures or mushroom coffee powders. Nothing has come close to Alchemy Dose in terms of quality and effectiveness. As Indians we are on the fence about mushrooms but the kind of study that has been done on mushrooms is incredible.
I am having mine with chilled water and lactose free milk and it’s tastes amazing. I’ve noticed steady energy (I’ve not taken my daily vitamins so I can notice the effects), focus at work, reduction in fatigue physical and mental. It suits my tummy too. I am really excited that we are getting this quality in India and I am rooting for Alchemy Dose. And by the way I’ve noticed a more calm mind aswell. Normal coffee does make me very anxious but it’s much much much less almost 0 due to L Theanaine. All in all, I am very happy and hopping in the Alchemy Dose bandwagon. Wishing you continued success.

Amazing Stuff!!

I was skeptical about "mushroom" coffee, but this tastes just like a smooth, premium dark roast. It has a very slight earthy hint, but it definitely doesn't taste like mushrooms.
The best part is the energy—it provides a clean, steady focus without the usual caffeine shakes or the mid-afternoon crash. It mixes easily and has become my daily go-to for a more productive morning. Highly recommended if you want the coffee ritual without the side effects!
